I’m gonna be famous!

Well, not really. But I am on my way out the door to film a TV news segment called “The Real Deal” that will air on Saturday morning, right when our next sale starts. I’ll be showing off all the great bargains that shoppers can find at consignment sales.

I sure hope I don’t come off looking like a moron!

C25K week 4, day 4

Finally made it through day 4 without feeling like I was going to die. Ran at 5.0 and covered 2.25 miles total in 32 minutes which averages to not quite 14 minutes/mile.

Looking ahead, week 5 is the first week where all the 3 days are not identical. Day one is three 5 minute runs, day two is two 8 minute runs, and day three is 20 minutes straight of running. I’m expecting it to take me more than three attempts to complete, but that’s okay.

C25K week 4, day 3

This week’s schedule: run 3 minutes, walk 90 sec, run 5 minutes, walk 2.5 minutes, then repeat. I was able to get a treadmill today. I walked at 3.8 mph and ran at 5.0 mph for the first 3 runs. For the last 5 minute run, I cut back to 4.8 mph until the last minute. I figured it was more important to finish than to worry about the insanely slow speed.

I wore my other new shoes today, the Asics. They felt okay around the house and okay while I was running, but when I first put them on at the Y, they seemed very short, despite being 1/2 size larger than my usual size.

I got back on the scale this morning and I’m really not losing weight. Probably because I’m HUNGRY and I’m eating more. After this next sale, I need to find a dietitian who can help me work on my eating ;-)

C25K week 4, day 2

The weather is nasty here today, lots of rain & sleet, so the Y was PACKED. I couldn’t find an empty treadmill, so after wandering for 4 or 5 minutes, gave up and ran on the track. I like being able to control my pace with the treadmill but know that I eventually need to wean myself off of using it.

I didn’t finish the last minute or so of the last 5 minute run. The first 5 minute run, I think I took off too fast. I did four 1/16 mile laps in 2.5 minutes which is faster than I go on the treadmill and I wore myself out.

DH has run week 3 twice and is finding it more challenging than he thought it would be. He’s probably running faster than I do. We’re going to try week 4 together this weekend and I may need to repeat week 4 a few more time before moving on.

C25K week 4, day 1

This week’s plan is run 3 minutes, walk 90 sec, run 5 minutes, walk 2.5 minutes, then repeat. I made it through, but that last 5 minute run took some work to just keep going.

My new shoes seem to have cured all the leg/knee pain I was having, so now I can focus on continuing to build up endurance. I’m still not convinced I’ll be running 20 minutes straight by the end of next week, but we’ll see.

DH started with the week 3 plan yesterday. It bothers him that the time/milage don’t add up. They clearly do match up at the end of week 5 with “run 2 miles or 20 minutes” to equal 10 minute miles. I’m running at 12 minutes/mile and will take some time to build up to 10′s. He can probably do 10′s easily if not faster.

one down, one to go

Our first sale of the season is complete. It was the bigger of the two and the second one is on March 15 & 16.

It turns out we had roughly the same number of items in double the space, so everything went much better than last fall. Putting 20,000 items out went very smoothly, despite the unexpected snow day. I was terrified when I heard school was canceled in several of the surrounding counties on the longer of the set-up days, but most of our workers were able to make it in. We sold more items than last fall and did quite a bit more in total sales too.

I have a bit more paperwork to complete, but my focus has shifted already to the second sale, the newer and smaller one. It looks like it will grow again this season as well.

Disney trip updates

I’m finalizing plans for our September/October trip. My 7 month booking window opened last week and I was able to move us to the Villas at Wilderness Lodge for the first 3 nights of our trip. We were booked in a studio at the Beach Club Villas for the weekend and then moving to a 1 BR for the rest of the trip but decided that if we had to move rooms anyway, we might as well try 2 resorts.

I was thinking of driving for this trip since we could split the drive in half both on the way down and the way back. DH said no, we’ll fly Southwest on a Ding! fare. SWA flies out of Louisville, which means a 70 minute drive and parking. Today I managed to snag $250/pp fares on Delta’s nonstop from the Lexington airport which is 5 minutes from our house. Yea!

We’ll need to book meal ADR’s in a month or so and I need to work on getting a cheaper rental car. I have one through National’s Emerald Aisle but it seems expensive to me.

I also signed DH and I up for the Expedition Everest 5K challenge.

C25K week 3, day 5

Yes, my 5th attempt at completing the week 3 run without being totally wiped out. I finished it last Monday, but it was tough. I figured it would be equally tough after a week off, but it wasn’t. I made the runs at 5.0 and the walks at 3.8 with much less effort.

On to week 4, I guess!
