Milestone Moments: Baby’s first Muppet show

I’ve decided it is my responsiblity as a good parent to see to the cultural education of my children. To that end, I checked out some DVD’s of The Muppet Show from the library.

They loved it!

I’m also trying to expose them to some of the stories and characters they’ll see at Walt Disney World this fall. Recently, we’ve watched The Three Caballeros (it was dreadful), Bill Nye the Science Guy (over their heads, but Thing Two likes the theme song), and last night we watched Swiss Family Robinson. They followed the story fairly well. I’d forgotten the details and was shocked at the helplessness of the women in the story. In particular, the girl disguised as a boy – when she was dressed as a boy, she ran and jumped and climbed just like the boys. As soon as she was revealed to be a girl, she needed to be helped over every rock and tree.

Next up, Herbie the Love Bug. Wonder what they’ll think of The Parent Trap?

C25K week 6, day 1

Today’s plan – run 5 minutes, walk 3, run 8, walk 3, then run 5 more. I was on the treadmill, running at 5.2 and walking at 3.7. It seemed very easy! I mean, I was working, but I wasn’t about to die or anything.

The next day is two 8 minute runs with a walk break and then the rest of the plan is pretty much run for 25, 28, or 30 minutes without stopping.

I got on the scale this morning and finally saw some weight loss. Woohoo!

Spring Break, day 4

We didn’t leave the house today, but did make chocolate chip cookies and pick up a bit. Tomorrow we have to go to the Y so I can run and swing by the grocery for a few things for BIL & SIL’s visit.

I did get a sitter for Saturday afternoon, so we’ll be going to Keeneland without small children!

Spring Break, day 3

Got a call around 9:30 from the neighbors, asking if Thing One and Thing Two could come over and play with their granddaughter… sure, twist my arm!

I retrieved them around 11:30. They had out a violin, a guitar, a Musikgarten set of sticks, bells, and sandblocks, a piano, and a toy keyboard. Rock on, dudes! Mr. P is fabulous with kids and having them next door is so wonderful.

We went to the park and played for a long time. We had planned to meet a few people and ran into several others we knew. Caught up on a lot of good gossip! After that the boys and I went to the grocery with the little kid-sized carts since they’ve been asking to do that for a while. I just needed a few staple items, not a major shopping trip. I only got my ankles slammed into four or five times.

Note to self: The first Wednesday of the month is senior citizen day at Kroger. Going there gives you bad flashbacks of shopping in South Florida. Avoid like the plague!

the rest of our ADR’s for Fall 2008

I got the rest of our ADR’s today, except for Yak & Yeti, which apparently doesn’t participated in the +10 day advantage for WDW resort guests. I have to call back at exactly 180 days for that one

Dinner at Marrakesh (I’ve had this one booked in both 2005 and 2006 and we’ve never kept it… Food & Wine Festival always seems more appealing). I’ve been there before and know the boys & DHl will like it.

Others are Tusker House, Sci-Fi Dine-in, and Garden Grill.

I got the boys booked on a pirate adventure cruise and Paul booked on a Segway tour. I wish I could Segway too, but the timing of the pirate cruise drop-off/pick-up just won’t work. Oh, well, nearly two hours to myself… what will I do?

I forgot to book the kid’s club for our night out to Pleasure Island.

C25K week 5, day 6 (or day 3 for the second time!)

This is not an April Fool’s – I finally managed to finish up the repeat of week 5 by running for 20 minutes without stopping today. I took the same route as Sunday but didn’t need the walk break.

My extremely unofficial clocking method (checking my watch against a path that I think is a .5 mile loop) shows that I was running faster!
