Outside run, plan was four 8 minute runs with 1 minute walk between. I cut the last one about 2 minutes short because I felt dizzy. Overall covered 3.2 miles in 40 minutes.

more than I bargained for
So, yesterday I took the boys to the Louisville Zoo. It took about 70 minutes to get there and nearly 5 hours to get home. A semi truck wrecked and they closed the interstate. I passed the time answering every possible question covering a myriad of topics from zebra poop to outer space.
London trip is booked. I can’t wait! IL’s will be keeping Things One and Two but the logistics of getting boys to IL’s, boys back from IL’s, and when and how are cabinets going to come from IL’s and get installed in my kitchen are really making my head hurt. At the rate we’re going, I’ll be thrilled to have the kitchen done before DH goes to Asia at the end of July.
I have a haircut appointment in an hour and a half. I can’t decide: keep growing or cut it off?
not definite, but probably!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Pending someone agreeing to keep our kids, DH is booking two flights to London and a week stay here just as soon as his employers travel department gets his name correct in their system. We’ll be there June 22-28 with flights June 21 and June 29. He’ll have 2-3 days completely free and evenings on the other days. Some of the other guys may be bringing their wives as well, but I don’t know any of them.
I’ve picked up a stack o’ tourbooks from the library. What are your “must-see” things for London?
that will be $20, please
Woke up at 6:15 to Thing Two claiming his ear hurt. If he says it hurts, it’s infected. He’s never c/o ear pain and NOT had an infection. I couldn’t call the ped until 7:30, so I got up, did my run, and came back to call. They offered me 9:30 at the far away office or 11 at the close office, so I took 11. She called back within 10 minutes to offer me 8:45. Sold!
DH is home since we’re suppose to leave for the weekend in Gatlinburg mid-morning. He kept Thing One while Thing Two and I went off to get the ear check and ABT’s. Yep, infected. No red throat, likely not strep, just a side effect of congestion. DH and I had colds last week and I have had a sore throat for 3 days now… I was tempted to ask her to check me too.
Anyway, DH is fiddling with insulation and as soon as he showers, we’re packing up and heading out for the long weekend in Gatlinburg with my parents.
Delta, again
After posting elsewhere about our Delta flights, I decided to check to make sure all was well. Yep, they’ve changed the flights, again.
I booked with them for 2 non-stop flights from the airport 5 minutes from my house. Apparently, there are no more non-stops from Lexington to Orlando. Dammit!
I called to change to an earlier departure since the one they decided on for me didn’t get in until mid-afternoon. So, now we leave at the crack of early and change planes in Cincy.
When they emailed me the receipts with the new flights, the wrong city and state are listed since the agent made a typo in the zip code. It says Hamilton, OH. I made another call and that agent wouldn’t make a change, assuring me that we’d not have a problem with the address on the ticket being different from the address on our ID. Should I call back yet again and make a stink?
Milestone Moments: Baby’s first cavity!
Milestone moment: Baby’s first cavity!
Yep, Thing One has a cavity between his back two molars. We’re not flossing good enough. Add that to all the school events today and I feel like I’ve been kicked in the head.
He’s got an appointment in two weeks for a filling. I’d like to find someone to foist Thing Two off on so I can take him alone, but I don’t know if that will happen.
twist that knife just a little more
I’ll admit I could be overreacting to the kid who didn’t know Thing Two’s name. I really don’t think I’m overreacting to the wording on their evaluations.
I’m leaving out the rundown of skills they do and don’t have, and just focusing on the wording.
Thing One’s evaluation:
Thing One is a leader, blah, blah, intent listener and tries his best, blah, blah. I’ve really been working with Thing One on improving his self control skills and being more caring with his classmates. He’s really improved in this area. Thing One is doing exceptional in handwriting, pencil placement, and concepts. I’m so proud of his accomplishments this year!
Thing Two’s evaluation:
Thing Two, like his brother, is a leader with his peers. He takes great pride in his work, blah, blah. I’ve also been working with Thing Two on self control issues and taking responsibilty for his actions. I’m seeing much improvement. Thing Two is doing great in blah, blah, blah and also execptional in handwriting, pencil placement, and concepts. Both boys have amazed me this year.
Does anyone else see what I see in this?
a four year old just broke my heart
I’m also upset about the boys’ evaluations, but today’s heartbreaking moment came from another child in their class.
Today was their last day at Mom’s Day Out. As we were heading down the stairs for the last time ever, a boy from their class turned around, looked at Thing Two, and asked him his name.
They’ve been with this kid for 2 days a week since August and he still didn’t know the boys apart. I almost started crying.
This further enforces my belief that my boys need to be in separate classes. Can you imagine a four year old not knowing another’s name on the LAST day of school? My boys know the first name of every child in this class, as well as every child in their own and their brother’s class at the other preschool. But because they are “the twins”, no one bothers to learn theirs. They are NOT identical twins!
ETA: They don’t know everyone’s last name, only when the last name is used because there are two or three kids with the same first name.
already stressed
This kitchen thing is already stressing me out and it’s just begun. We can’t find ANYTHING. Making coffee requires 8 trips around the dining room to find everything. Thing One and Thing Two keep asking the same damn questions over and over and whining that they liked our old kitchen (they do that whenever ANYTHING changes).
The electrician was supposed to come today so I’m sitting here waiting and didn’t go to the gym or shopping like I wanted to. Apparently DH called at 8:15 to tell me they weren’t coming today but left a message on my cell instead of calling the house. I JUST got the message at 10:20. My morning is wasted. I have to go and get the boys from soccer camp at noon.
If we were hiring out all the work, I think this could be a 2-3 week job, tops. Since DH is doing most of it himself, it’s going to drag to twice that, or more. I’m impressed and glad that he CAN do all this stuff, but living in this mess is going to kill me.
