The dreaded annual trip to the pediatrician was yesterday. I say dreaded since taking two well children to the doctor is a whole different ballgame than taking two sick children. Sick children whine and waller. Well children jump up and and down off the table, scream and yell, hoot and holler and basically make me want to request a valium on the way out. Actually, that’s not a bad idea… we were there close to two hours and I was shaking by the time we left.
Anyway. The stats.
Thing One is a whopping 40.5 pounds with clothes but no shoes. He’s 44 1/4 inches. Thing Two is 35.75 pounds and 43 1/4 inches tall.
That was about it. Everything else is fine. They passed the hearing test. Unfortunately, a listening test isn’t offered, they’d both fail that one for sure. They need an eye exam from an optometrist before kindergarten. I got all the paperwork I need for kindergarten registration next year.
Each boy got two injections, a flu shot and a second dose of chicken pox vax. They were screaming as soon as the nurse came into give them. Since I’m such a mean mom, I don’t get all worked up over them getting injections with tiny little 30 gauge needles. Nope, it’s just the screaming that bothers me. It hurts my ears. I suggested to her that it used to work really well when they were small and two nurses came so they got injected at the same time. She mumbled something about short-staffed. I resisted the urge to grab the syringe and give them myself and just held the wiggling upper bodies while she held the lower body and stuck them.
Everyone seems to be okay today and we don’t have to go back for another year!
