with malice toward none, with charity for all

Lincoln’s Birthplace National Park is a place that we went nearly every year for a field trip when I was in school.  My grandfather’s farm included adjacent property to the park.  After years of saying we needed to visit, Thing One, Thing Two, and DH had their first visit. Mom, Dad, and I had our umpteeth visit!

Unfortunately, all the walking trails are closed since no one has seen fit to pick up the tree limbs that fell during last winter’s ice storm.  That left us the visitor’s center, the log cabin, and the sinking spring.  With two five-year-olds along, it was a quick trip!
